Arthogryposis

Arthogryposis

Arthrogryposis (arthrogryposis multiplex congenita) is the descriptive term used to describe at least 2 congenital contractures in the joints of newborns. All types of arthrogryposis are associated with decreased fetal movement, which can usually be recognised by lack of normal movement in utero using real-time ultrasound studies. Arthrogryposis is not a diagnosis, instead it is a clinical finding and it has hundreds of underlying causes.
